Revival Delivers Three-Medal Triumph for Maldives at South Africa International
Revival Sports’s stars representing Maldives, Fathimath Nabaaha (Naba) and Aminath Nabeeha (Naby) have secured yet another impressive achievement on the BWF circuit, winning the silver medal in the Women’s Doubles event at the AQUASPRINGS South Africa International 2025.
The Maldivian pair delivered a spirited performance in the final against South Africa’s dominant duo Amy Ackerman and Johanita Scholtz, pushing the match to three intense games before falling 9–21, 26–24, 14–21.
This result marks a remarkable milestone for the pair, who have now reached three consecutive finals across their African tour—earning three silver medals in Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. In all three championship matches, they were narrowly outplayed by the same South African pair, Ackerman and Scholtz, highlighting a developing rivalry at the top of the regional circuit.
In addition to the Women’s Doubles success, Zayan Zaki and Naba captured the bronze medal in Mixed Doubles after reaching the semifinals, where they were halted by South Africa’s Robert Summers and Amy Ackerman 8–21, 14–21.
Naba added another medal to her tally by securing bronze in Women’s Singles, following her semifinal contest against South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz, which ended 12–21, 8–21.
The South Africa International, a BWF-sanctioned tournament, yielded a total of three medals for Team Maldives—one silver and two bronze—capping off an exceptionally successful three-tournament run.
Across the Zambia International, Botswana International, and South Africa International, Revival Sports and the Maldivian National Team amassed an impressive seven medals, marking one of the nation’s strongest performances on the BWF International Series circuit:
Zambia International
• Mixed Doubles – Gold (Zayan & Nabaaha)

• Women’s Doubles – Silver (Naba & Naby)
South Africa International

With consistent podium finishes and expanding international exposure, Revival Sports’ athletes are steadily elevating Maldivian badminton, demonstrating remarkable progress and growing potential on the global stage. This success is especially significant as it comes during a period in which the BWF suspension remains in place, and the Maldives has been permitted to compete only through limited exceptions granted two months ago.
