Revival seniors shine in strong start at Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open

Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open got off to a stellar start for Revival Sports High Performance Team, with six senior players powering into the men’s singles quarterfinals and their women’s stars setting up an all-Revival final.

In the women’s singles, five players competed in a round-robin league, with the top two advancing to the final. National badminton standouts, sisters Nabaha Abdul Razzaq and Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq, lived up to their reputation, sweeping through their matches. The siblings faced each other in the league stage, where Nabeeha triumphed 15–05, 15–08. The pair will now team up in the women’s doubles final, further underlining their dominance.

The men’s open singles also showcased Revival’s depth. In the group stage, where only the top player progressed in eight groups (3 players in each group), Nibal Ahmed, Haisham Ibrahim, Adam Maheen, Hassan Zayan Mohamed, and Zayan Zaki all secured quarterfinal berths.

One of the day’s most gripping encounters saw Hassan Zayan edge Mohamed Hisham in three sets, while Nibal and Zayan marched through with commanding wins. Haisham maintained his momentum to seal his place among the final eight.

The men’s quarterfinals promise high-stakes clashes, with Revival teammates going head-to-head:

Nibal Ahmed vs. Kyle Adriel Basilio

Haisham Ibrahim vs. Adam Maheen

Hassan Zayan Mohamed vs. Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed

Hoodh bin Hamid vs. Zayan Zaki

In doubles, Revival’s Hassan Zayan and Mohamed Khalaf Imran advanced to the semifinals, where they will face Ahmed Thoif and Riaz Mohamed. Meanwhile, the pair of Zayan and Nibal fell short against Ajfan Mohamed and Philippines’ Kyle Adriel.

With the quarterfinals set for Day Two, Revival Sports have already stamped their authority, combining depth, consistency, and ambition as they eye multiple titles at this year’s Junior Open.
