Revival Sports Set for Five Quarterfinals at South Africa International
Revival Sports High Performance Team has delivered one of its strongest collective performances to secure five quarterfinal berths at the AQUASPRINGS South Africa International 2025 across both singles and doubles disciplines.
Revival Sports demonstrated consistency, and depth throughout Southern Africa tour, as multiple players advanced through their respective rounds with commanding wins.
In Women’s Singles, both Fathimath Nabaaha (Naba) and Aminath Nabeeha (Naby) marched into the quarterfinals with back-to-back victories. Naba recorded a confident 21–15, 21–10 win over South Africa’s Anicka Nel, while Naby produced a gritty performance to defeat Mauritius’ Chiara How Hong 21–9, 25–23 after cruising through her Round of 32 match against Theodora Selahla with a dominant 21–4, 21–5 result.
Revival Sports also celebrated progress in Women’s Doubles, where Naba and Naby advanced together, further highlighting their exceptional form in the tournament.
In the Men’s Doubles Quarterfinals, the well-synced pair of Zayan Zaki and Nibal Ahmed continued their strong run, overcoming South Africa’s Johan Oberholzer and Ryan Armand Swart 21–12, 21–13 in the Round of 16. Their performance as a pair is growing with confidence.
The team’s success extended into the Mixed Doubles, where Zayan and Naba secured their quarterfinal place with a confident 21–12, 21–11 win over South Africa’s Jordan Van Tonder and Twyla Van Reenen.
In Men’s Singles, Zayan opened his campaign with an impressive 21–9, 21–15 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Almuqahwi in the Round of 32. He later put up a strong fight in the Round of 16 against India’s Rajesh Srikar, falling 16–21, 15–21 after a competitive performance. Nibal Ahmed also delivered a spirited showing in the Round of 16, challenging Portugal’s second seed Bruno Carvalho before going down 18–21, 14–21.
With quarterfinal representation in Women’s Singles (2), Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, Revival Sports is eyeing another successful tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Naba will face Mauritius’ Tiya Bhurtun in the Women’s Singles draw, while Naby is set to take on the fourth seed, Saudi Arabia’s Khadijah Kawthar. In Women’s Doubles, the pair of Naby and Naba has booked its place in the quarterfinals and will meet South Africa’s Deborah Godfrey and Anri Schoones.
On the Men’s Doubles side, Zayan Zaki and Nibal will challenge the Australian duo Avinash Srinivas and Ephraim Stephen for a spot in the semifinals. Meanwhile, in the Mixed Doubles quarterfinal, Zayan and Naba are slated to play against South Africa’s Anthony Philipps and Anri Schoonees.
