Thoif and Riaz capture Men’s Doubles Crown at Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open

The Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2025 turned into a showcase of dominance for the Revival Sports High Performance Team and Academy, with success across nearly every category.

Adding to the team’s triumphs, Ahmed Thoif Mohamed and Revival coach Riaz Mohamed produced a standout run to claim the Men’s Doubles title, underlining both Revival Sports depth.

From the outset, Thoif and Riaz looked sharp, growing in confidence with each match. Their combination play, built on Riaz’s experience and Thoif’s talent, made them one of the most balanced pairs in the competition.

In the semi-final, they faced fellow Revival teammates Mohamed Khalaf Imraan and Hassan Zayan Mohamed, edging a competitive match 21-18, 21-17 to book their spot in the final.

The title decider proved to be a true test, pitting them against former Maldivian champion Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed and the Philippines’ Kyle Adriel Basilio, ranked No4. Despite Ajfan and Kyle’s strong run including a group stage victory over Revival’s Zayan Zaki and Nibal Ahmed of Revival, they were no match for Thoif and Riaz’s relentless pace and precision. The final was tight early on, with Thoif and Riaz edging the first set 24-22, before raising their level to dominate the second 21-14, sealing the championship in straight games.

The victory was more than just a trophy. It was a statement of Revival Sports’ philosophy of blending international expertise with homegrown talent. Riaz, a Bangladeshi coach with experience, combined seamlessly with Maldivian star, a former countries National championship winner, Thoif to deliver a performance that reflected both technical discipline and fearless ambition.

Their win was part of a broader wave of success for Revival at the Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open. In the Men’s Singles, Revival star Nibal Ahmed clinched the title, defeating teammate Zayan Zaki in the final, while Hassan Zayan Mohamed and Haisham Ibrahim Ali secured third place. In the Women’s Singles, Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby) lifted the trophy after her sister Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba) was forced to retire due to injury. The twin sisters, however, combined in the Women’s Doubles, storming to yet another international gold with a dominant win over their Philippine opponents.

With multiple titles across both singles and doubles events, the Revival Sports High Performance Team and Academy emerged as the clear powerhouse of the Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open.
