Twin Sisters Naby and Naba reign supreme at Maldives Junior Open
The remarkable journey of Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby) and Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba), the twin sisters from the Revival Sports High Performance Team and national badminton stars, continued in style as they added more silverware to their glittering careers, at the Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2025.
The four-day tournament, which featured over 700 matches and players from eight nations, saw the Maldivian duo once again underline their dominance on the international stage.
In the Women’s Doubles final, Naba and Naby were untouchable, sweeping aside the Philippines pair Mareykris Misty Acuhido and Roseylin Cayaon Waheed with a commanding 21-06, 21-10 victory.
The triumph secured their sixth international gold medal together, cementing their reputation as one of the most formidable doubles pairings in the region.
The sisters also clashed in the Women’s Singles event, a much-anticipated matchup that unfortunately ended prematurely. Battling through injury, Naba was forced to retire during the first set, handing Naby the singles crown. For Naby, who has already collected multiple national singles titles and international medals, it was a “double delight”, singles and doubles glory in the same tournament.
Their success in Maldives Junior Open further strengthens the story of Maldivian badminton’s dominant force, with the twins continuing to inspire young players across the nation. With each competition, Naba and Naby are not just collecting trophies but also shaping a legacy as pioneers of women’s badminton in the Maldives.
