Zayan and Nibal set for showdown in Eydhafushi Cup Final

Two rising stars from the Revival Sports High Performance Team, Hassan Zayan Mohamed and Nibal Ahmed, are set to face off tonight in the Men’s Singles Open Category final of the Eydhafushi Cup 2025.

National champion Nibal Ahmed booked his place in the final after a dominant performance against Eydhafushi’s own Awf Bin Fazloon, securing a straight-sets victory: 21-05, 21-05. This will be Nibal’s third final appearance this year. He previously competed in the Naifaru Open final against Zayan Zaki, and later made a strong comeback to defeat the same opponent in the Maldives Junior Open final.

Meanwhile, Hassan Zayan Mohamed continues to show impressive growth in his form. In the semifinals, he overcame experienced veteran Hussain Mohamed, a well decorated athlete in the Maldives Atoll League and National Badminton Tournament. Zayan won the match 21-08, 23-21, surviving a tightly contested second set where Hussain pushed him to the limit.

The much-anticipated final between Zayan and Nibal is scheduled for tonight at the Eydhafushi Badminton Court, promising an exciting encounter between two of the nation’s most promising talents.

Beyond the open category, the Eydhafushi Badminton Cup 2025 is also witnessing strong performances at the grassroots level.

At the Eydhafushi Youth Center, junior matches are underway, showcasing the progress made by young players from the Revival Sports Badminton Academy (RSBA), Revival Sports High Performance Team (RS), and the Revival Sports Eydhafushi Academy. These academies continue to play a key role in developing badminton talent across the Maldives.
