BAM Rankings Reveal Revival Sports’ Stronghold on Maldivian Badminton

Badminton Association of Maldives (BAM) has released its updated national rankings and revised ranking points system following the conclusion of the Badminton Association Championship, with Revival Sports athletes emerging as the dominant force across both the Open and Junior divisions.

The newly published rankings underline the growing strength of the Revival Sports High Performance Programme, with the club’s national team players occupying the leading positions in nearly every senior category. The rankings come after an impressive showing at the Badminton Association Championship, where Revival Sports athletes secured multiple titles and podium finishes.

In the Men’s Singles category, national champion Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki leads the rankings with 2,500 points after claiming the championship title. Fellow Revival Sports player Nibal Ahmed sits second with 1,750 points, while Haisham Ibrahim Ali and Hassan Zayan Mohamed share third place on 1,200 points each. The rankings reflect Revival Sports’ complete dominance of the men’s singles discipline, with the club occupying all four of the top positions.

The Women’s Singles rankings tell a similar story. National champion Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq occupies the number one position with 2,500 points, while her sister and doubles partner Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq follows in second place with 1,750 points. Yalvee Hussain Zuhury and Shuba Mohamed Shareef are joint third with 1,200 points.

Naba and Naby’s success extends beyond the singles competition. The pair currently lead the Women’s Doubles rankings with 2,500 points following their title-winning campaign at the national championship. Aminath Naseema and Busaina Ahmed Riza are ranked second with 1,750 points after finishing as runners-up.

In the Men’s Doubles rankings, the Revival Sports partnership of Zayan Zaki and Nibal sit at the top with 1,750 points. Although the pair finished runners-up at the Badminton Association Championship, their consistent performances throughout the season have kept them at the summit of the national rankings. Hamza Abdul Rahman and Yoosuf Niyaz currently occupy second place with 1,200 points.

The Mixed Doubles rankings are also headed by a Revival Sports pairing, with Nibal and Naby earning 2,500 points after securing the national title. Their teammates Zayan Zaki and Naba follow in second place with 1,750 points, while Mohamed Hisham Latheef and Nafha Nasrullah, along with Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed and Aishath Yooha Ahmed, share third position on 1,200 points.

Beyond the Open division, the updated rankings also highlight the impressive progress being made within Revival Sports Badminton Academy (RSBA) and Revival Sports Eydhafushi (RSE), with athletes from both programmes featuring prominently among the nation’s top-ranked junior players.

Among the junior singles players, Revival Sports Eydhafushi’s Yoosuf Alaf Bin Rilwan leads the Under-11 Boys rankings with 1,250 points after a series of strong performances. Revival Sports Badminton Academy athlete Ibrahim Naaim Nazeem follows in second place with 875 points. In the Under-13 Boys division, Mohamed Yuan Arafath Saeed sits at the top of the national rankings with 1,250 points, while Aishath Nyam Saaidh holds the number one position in the Under-13 Girls category with the same points tally.

In the Under-19 Boys category, Adam Maheen Mohamed occupies the number one ranking with 1,250 points following his championship-winning performance, while teammate Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed sits second with 875 points. Revival Sports Eydhafushi athlete Risham Abdul Fathah is ranked second in the Under-15 Boys division with 875 points.

The doubles rankings also feature several Revival Sports athletes at the top of their respective categories. Mohamed Yuan Arafath Saeed and Maeesh Mohamed of Holhudhoo lead the Under-13 Boys Doubles rankings with 1,250 points after capturing the national title. Ahmed Ayaan Bin Mohamed Solah and Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed hold the number one ranking in the Under-19 Boys Doubles division with 1,250 points, while Revival Sports Eydhafushi pairs Risham Abdul Fathah and Awf Bin Fazloon, along with Mohamed Ilaan Bin Rilwan and Yoosuf Zeek Zuhan, are ranked second in the Under-15 and Under-17 Boys Doubles categories respectively.

BAM rankings further underscore Revival Sports’ prominent role in the development of Maldivian badminton. With athletes occupying leading positions across numerous senior and junior categories, the club has reinforced its reputation as one of the nation’s leading badminton development programmes, consistently producing national team players while nurturing the next generation of elite talent.
