Revival Sports will have four athletes representing the Maldives at the upcoming badminton competition of the Asian Games 2026, with Zayan Zaki, Nibal Ahmed, Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby) and Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba) selected for national duty.

The four players are set to compete in the open badminton events at the Asian Games, which will be hosted in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. Revival Sports coach Mohamed Nashfan will also travel with the national team as part of the delegation.

The upcoming Asian Games will mark another major international assignment for the four athletes, who previously represented the Maldives at recent multi-sport competitions, including the 2023 Asian Games in China. The 2023 edition was originally scheduled to take place in 2022 before being postponed.

The players head into the Asian Games following an intense period of domestic competition at the 50th National Badminton Tournament, held in Malé from 10 to 20 September.

Double Olympian Naba enjoyed a successful tournament, claiming her fifth national women’s singles title. She also secured the women’s doubles championship alongside her sister, Naby, while winning the mixed doubles title with Zayan Zaki.

Nibal also completed a strong campaign, winning the men’s doubles title alongside Zayan Zaki. He reached the men’s singles final but was defeated by fellow national player Haisham Ibrahim Ali in a closely contested encounter.

The demanding tournament schedule has provided the athletes with valuable competitive experience ahead of their international assignment. With the national team now preparing for the Asian Games, the four Revival Sports players will look to carry their recent form and experience onto the continental stage.

The badminton open events at the Asian Games 2026 are scheduled to begin in the coming days, as the Maldives’ national players prepare to compete against athletes from across Asia.
