Haisham Clinches Revival Sports “Singles League Title”
Haisham Ibrahim Ali emerged as champion of the Revival Sports Singles League following a closely contested in-house tournament organised by Revival Sports to strengthen competitive standards within its player base.
The league, held from 15 to 18 April, featured nine players drawn from the club’s high-performance squad, under-23 talents, and even members of the coaching staff, creating a unique and highly competitive environment.
After four days of intense matches, Haisham secured the first position in a tightly fought standings table, where the top three players all finished level on seven match wins.
Zayan Zaki and Hassan Zayan completed the top three, with final rankings determined through official tie-breaking criteria. Hassan Zayan placed third based on set difference (+10 compared to +12), while Haisham was ranked first ahead of Zayan Zaki following their head-to-head result, having defeated him 2–0 on Day 3.
The competition followed Badminton World Federation (BWF) regulations for ranking, with standings decided in order of match wins, set difference (in three-way ties), head-to-head results (in two-way ties), followed by point difference and equal standing if required.
A notable feature of the tournament was the implementation of a “Female Athlete Rule,” under which any female player finishing level on match wins with a male player would be ranked higher, regardless of set difference or head-to-head results. This initiative was introduced to encourage inclusivity and competitiveness across all participants.
Alongside the top three, six other players competed in the league, including Fathimath Nabaha (Naba), Aminath Nabeeha (Naby), Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed, Ahmed ayaan bin Mohamed Solah and Nasheeu Sharafuddheen, all contributing to a highly competitive and development-focused tournament.
The initiative highlights Revival Sports’ continued commitment to building a structured, high-level competitive environment within the club, offering players consistent match exposure and opportunities to enhance their performance, with the competition featuring a prize pool of MVR 15,000.
