Junior Badminton Spotlight Turns to Eydhafushi for Revival Sports Eydhafushi Junior Open 2026
The third edition of the Revival Sports Eydhafushi Junior Open is set to get underway from May 22 to 25 at the Eydhafushi Youth Centre in B. Eydhafushi, with a total of 150 young badminton players preparing to compete across four days of action.
The tournament, organised by Revival Sports and Revival Sports Eydhafushi, has attracted 204 entries in 22 events, highlighting the rapid growth of junior badminton participation in the Maldives. Matches will be played across two courts throughout the competition.
This year’s edition will feature athletes competing in multiple age categories, including Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles events.
A total of 21 athletes from the Revival Sports Badminton Academy are set to participate, competing across Under-9 to Under-17 categories in both singles and doubles disciplines. Meanwhile, Revival Sports Eydhafushi will field a significantly larger contingent of 104 athletes, making it one of the biggest representations at the tournament.
Since its introduction, the Revival Sports Eydhafushi Junior Open has steadily established itself as one of the key youth badminton competitions in the national calendar. The first two editions attracted strong participation from players across the Maldives, particularly from the Malé region, while also providing valuable competitive exposure for developing athletes from the islands.
The tournament continues to serve as an important platform for identifying and nurturing emerging badminton talent in the country. Through initiatives such as the Junior Open, Revival Sports and Revival Sports Eydhafushi aim to strengthen grassroots badminton development and create more opportunities for young athletes to pursue the sport at a higher level.
With growing participation numbers and increased nationwide interest, this year’s championship is expected to deliver another competitive and exciting showcase of Maldivian junior badminton talent.
