Naba and Zayan Zaki: 33 National Titles and a Legacy of Dominance

Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba) and Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki (Zayan Zaki) have established themselves as one of the most dominant duos in the history of top-tier badminton in the Maldives, with the two Revival Sports athletes combining for an extraordinary 33 National titles.

As the sport celebrates the 50th National Badminton Tournament this year, the achievements of Naba and Zayan Zaki provide a remarkable reflection of the consistency and longevity they have maintained at the highest level of Maldivian badminton.

Both players are currently members of the Maldives National Badminton Squad and represent Revival Sports, continuing to compete at the highest domestic level while contributing to the development of the next generation of Maldivian players.

Together, Naba and Zayan Zaki have collected 33 National titles, with Mixed Doubles championships counted individually as part of each player’s overall National title tally.

Zayan Zaki: 16 National Titles

Zayan Zaki has won 16 National titles across Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

His Men’s Singles National championships came in 2017 and 2023, establishing him among the country’s leading singles players across different generations of the tournament.

In Men’s Doubles, Zayan Zaki has claimed National titles in 2013, 2015, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2026. In this year’s 50th National Badminton Tournament, he partnered with Nibal Ahmed to secure the Men’s Doubles title.

His record in Mixed Doubles is even more extensive, with National titles in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2026.

Since 2017, Zayan Zaki has partnered with Naba in Mixed Doubles, creating one of the most successful partnerships in Maldivian badminton. Their partnership has produced multiple National championships and continued with another title at this year’s landmark tournament.

Naba: 17 National Titles

Naba has amassed 17 National titles, making her one of the most decorated female players in Maldivian badminton.

Her Women’s Singles National championships came in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2026.

The 2026 title marked another return to the top for Naba, adding a fifth National Women’s Singles championship to her collection.

In Women’s Doubles, Naba has won National titles in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2026.

Her Mixed Doubles record includes championships in 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2026, with Zayan Zaki her regular partner since 2017.

A Legacy Built Across Generations

The combined record of 33 National titles underlines the extraordinary consistency of the two athletes. Their success spans singles and doubles disciplines, while their Mixed Doubles partnership has become a defining feature of the modern National Badminton Tournament.
