Naba and Zayan Zaki Reach Mixed Doubles Last 16 at Czech International Future Series

Revival Sports pair Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba) and Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki (Zayan Zaki) produced the standout result for the Maldivian club at the Czech International Future Series 2026, advancing to the Round of 16 in the mixed doubles competition.

Competing in the opening leg of Revival Sports’ European tour, Naba and Zayan secured an impressive straight-games victory over Ukrainian duo Artem Synytsia and Kseniia Rozhkova, winning 21-17, 21-19 to book their place in the last 16.

The result marked the club’s best performance of the tournament so far and ensured continued Maldivian representation in the mixed doubles draw.

Earlier in the competition, Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby) made a strong start in the women’s singles qualification rounds, defeating Czech player Kristyna Kozakova 21-11, 21-10. However, her run ended in the next round after a hard-fought three-set defeat to Estonia’s Marija Paskotsi. Naby won the opening set 21-16 before Paskotsi fought back to claim the match 14-21, 13-21.

In the women’s singles main draw, Naba was unable to progress after losing to Czech player Maixnerova in straight sets, 21-14, 21-07.

The men’s singles campaign also came to an early end for Revival Sports. Hassan Zayan Mohamed was defeated by Czech player Tedeas Brazda 21-7, 21-7, while Nibal Ahmed narrowly lost to Greece’s Evangelos Anastasiou 22-20, 21-18. Zayan Zaki was beaten by India’s Bhargav Somasundara 21-13, 21-09.

In mixed doubles, Naby and Nibal were unfortunate to miss out on a place in the Round of 16 after a closely contested three-set defeat to Mayan Mogilner and Heli Neiman. After taking the opening set 21-19, the Maldivian pair lost the next two sets 19-21, 18-21.

Revival Sports also faced tough opposition in the men’s doubles competition. Zayan Zaki and Nibal Ahmed were defeated by Adam Travinskiy and Mark Aronchik despite winning the opening set, eventually losing 16-21, 21-09, 21-12. Meanwhile, Mohamed Khalaf Imraan and Hassan Zayan went down 21-02, 21-05 against Ukraine’s Vladyslav Kunin and Yegor Romniuk.

The Czech International Future Series is the first tournament of Revival Sports’ European campaign, which forms part of the club’s international development programme aimed at increasing high-level competition exposure and preparing athletes for future regional and international events.
