Maldives national badminton player and Revival Sports Star, Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby) advanced to the women’s singles Round of 32 at the 2026 Asian Games after securing a commanding straight-game victory over Mongolia’s Tselmeg-od Enkhlen.

Naby produced a dominant performance, winning 21–8, 21–3 to progress to the next stage of the competition. She will face Hong Kong’s LO Sin Yan Happy in the Round of 32.

Meanwhile, fellow Maldivian player Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba) will also compete in the women’s singles Round of 32. Naba received a bye in the opening round and will face Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min in her first match of the tournament.

In the men’s singles opening round, Maldives’ Zayan Zaki was defeated by Mongolia’s Munkhat Batdavaa, losing 21–12, 21–17. Nibal Ahmed, meanwhile, will begin his men’s singles Round of 32 campaign against Sri Lanka’s Nettasinghe Pulikutty.

The Maldivian players also competed in mixed doubles, where both pairs suffered defeats. Naby and Nibal lost to India’s Kapila Dhruv and Crasto Tanisha, 21–8, 21–7. Naba and Zayan were defeated by Indonesia’s Ramdhanti Siti Fadia Silva and Joaquin Nikolous, 21–8, 21–14.

The Maldives will continue its doubles campaign today, with Zayan Zaki and Nibal set to face South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk and Ki Dong Ju in the men’s doubles. In the women’s doubles, Naba and Naby will take on Thailand’s Aimsaard Nuntakarn and Sudjaipraparat Jhenicha.

With Naby advancing in women’s singles and further singles and doubles matches ahead, the Maldivian badminton team continues its campaign at the 2026 Asian Games across multiple events.
