Revival Sports’ Biggest-Ever Overseas Investment Signals Ambitious Future for Maldivian Badminton
Revival Sports has embarked on the biggest overseas training commitment in its history, sending its High Performance Team and Under-23 Squad to Malaysia for an intensive two-month training program as part of the club’s long-term preparations for the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).
The training camp began on 28 July 2026, with a traveling delegation of 12 members, comprising athletes from the High Performance Team and Under-23 Squad alongside two coaches.
The program forms a key component of the club’s IOIG 2027 Development Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening the Maldives’ medal prospects through sustained international training, high-level sparring, and competitive exposure.
The travelling squad includes Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba), Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby), Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki, Hassan Zayan Mohamed, Haisham Ibrahim Ali, Mohamed Khalaf Imraan, Ahmed Ayaan Bin Mohamed Solah, Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed, Ibrahim Nashith Hamdi, head coach Mohamed Nashfan, coach Nasheeu Sharafuddeen, and Hussain Raushaan.
Revival Sports also confirmed that player Nibal Ahmed and coach Riaz Mohamed will join the squad in Malaysia at a later stage.
The extended training program will serve as preparation for a busy international calendar, including upcoming BWF-sanctioned tournaments and the Asian Games.
During the camp, the athletes are scheduled to compete in two major international events:
- PETRONAS Malaysia International Challenge 2026
- PETRONAS Malaysia International Series 2026
The Malaysia camp is designed to provide athletes with daily high-performance training, quality sparring opportunities, and valuable international match experience against stronger opposition.
Revival Sports believes continuous overseas exposure is essential to developing world-class athletes and raising the overall standard of badminton in the Maldives.
“Every overseas training camp, sparring session, and international match is a step forward in our athletes’ development. Through opportunities like these, we continue to raise the standard of Maldivian badminton while giving our athletes the experience and confidence needed to perform on the international stage,” the club said.
The two-month training camp marks another significant milestone in Revival Sports’ long-term athlete development strategy as the club intensifies its preparations for the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games, where it hopes its investment in international training will translate into podium success for the Maldives.
