Revival Sports has produced a strong showing across the senior singles categories at the 50th National Badminton Tournament, with nine players advancing through the First Division Men’s Singles Round of 32, while the club also recorded notable results across the First and Second Division competitions.

The depth of Revival Sports’ men’s singles campaign has been particularly evident, with nine representatives reaching the First Division Men’s Singles Round of 32. Among them is defending champion Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki (Zayan Zaki), who successfully began his title defence with a convincing victory.

Haisham Ibrahim Ali opened the Round of 32 with a dominant performance, defeating Abdulla Naaif Nazeeh 15-4, 15-6.

Defending champion Zayan Zaki also progressed comfortably, overcoming Izyaan Abdulla Saeed 15-7, 15-3. The result keeps Zaki’s bid for back-to-back national singles titles firmly alive.

Nibal Ahmed delivered another commanding performance, defeating Yoonus Kaif Mohamed 15-5, 15-3 to book his place in the next round.

Ayyoob Azhar Mohamed was pushed harder in his Round of 32 encounter but held his nerve to defeat Ahmed Falah Faroozan 17-15, 15-13 in a closely contested straight-games victory.

One of the more demanding encounters came for Ibrahim Nashith Hamdi, who battled through three games against Iyan Ahmed Mamdhooh. Nashith lost the second game 11-15 but recovered strongly to win 15-8, 11-15, 15-10 and advance.

Ahmed Ayaan Bin Mohamed Solah also secured a convincing victory, defeating Mohamed Illan Bin Rilwan 15-8, 15-4.

Adam Maheen Mohamed continued his impressive run after first winning his Round of 64 encounter against Mohamed Azaan Ahmed 15-4, 15-11. In the Round of 32, Maheen followed that up with another straight-games victory, defeating Yoosuf Ethaan Bin Shifaz 15-9, 15-7.

Hassan Zayan Mohamed completed another strong Revival performance in the men’s singles draw, defeating Ahmed Ahnaf Mohamed Aflah 15-5, 15-7.

Risham Abdul Fathah also advanced after overcoming fellow young player Mohamed Yuan Arafath Saeed 15-9, 15-10.

The results give Revival Sports a major presence in the First Division Men’s Singles knockout stages, with nine players progressing from the Round of 32.

Revival Sports also had representation in the First Division Women’s Singles. Aishath Nyam Saaid reached the Round of 16 but was unable to progress further after losing to Kiyaan Adil Mohamed 15-10, 15-12.

In the First Division Women’s Doubles, Revival Sports produced an all-Re​​vival matchup in the Round of 16. Aishath Afnan Rasheed and Maisa Fathuhulla defeated fellow Revival pair Aishath Laina Rifau and Laara Mohamed Latheef 15-3, 15-10. The result sends Afnan and Maisa into the next stage of the competition, while Laina and Laara’s campaign comes to an end after reaching the Round of 16.

Revival’s Ahmed Akil Masuood and Mohamed Yuan Arafath Saeed faced a closely fought Round of 32 encounter against Ibrahim Shamiu and Yaugoob Alveen Bin Husham. After a tight opening game, Revival took the second game to level the contest, but the opposition eventually secured the deciding game to win 16-14, 14-16, 15-7.

Revival Sports also continued to feature prominently in the Second Division Men’s Singles. Raidh Hanis Moosa advanced from the Round of 32 with a straight-games victory over Ahmed Falah, winning 15-9, 15-11. Kayyif Ahmed Iqbal also progressed after receiving a walkover against Ahmed Imaan.

However, Marvin Hussain Rasheed was eliminated in the Round of 32 after losing to Abdulla Aal Ahmed Ashraf 15-8, 15-6.

Romana Abdul Kader produced one of Revival’s strongest Second Division performances, reaching the Round of 16 and defeating Sarah Aini Mohamed in three games. Romana lost the opening game 9-15, but responded impressively to win the next two 15-12, 15-7, completing a comeback victory and securing her place in the quarterfinal stage.

Revival had mixed results in the Second Division Men’s Doubles. Aahil Ibrahim Shareef and Raid Hanis Moosa were defeated by Ahmed Riyaz and Mohamed Fayaz 17-15, 15-10 in the Round of 32.

Meanwhile, Marvin Hussain Rasheed and Yoosuf Shail Ismail advanced after defeating Aizan Abdulla Saeed and Musab Abyan Husham 15-13, 7-15, 15-6. The Revival pair recovered after dropping the second game to dominate the decider and move into the next round.

Romana Abdul Kader and Naaya Nasrath Mohamed reached the Round of 16 but saw their campaign end against Aishath Amra Mohamed and Aishath Fauza. Revival lost the opening game 9-15, fought back to take the second 15-13, but were ultimately beaten 15-4 in the deciding game.

In the Second Division Mixed Doubles, Marvin Hussain Rasheed and Romana Abdul Kader were eliminated in the Round of 32 after losing to Ibrahim Shujuaan and Yazaan Yaasir 15-8, 15-11.

Revival Sports’ performances across the senior categories underline the breadth of its representation at the 50th National Badminton Tournament.
