Revival Sports made an impressive start to the 50th National Badminton Tournament 2026, with athletes from Revival Sports Badminton Academy (RSBA) and Revival Sports Eydhafushi Academy (RSE) recording key number of winning matches on the opening day and advancing to the latter stages of several junior events.

The tournament is being held from 11 to 20 September 2026, with the junior competitions getting underway before the senior divisions take centre stage.

Revival Sports entered the tournament with a strong contingent, with 24 athletes from Revival Sports Badminton Academy (RSBA) and 32 athletes from Revival Sports Eydhafushi (RSE) competing across the junior categories, as well as Division 1 and Division 2 competitions. Both academies have shown significant progress in recent competitions, and their opening-day results provided further evidence of the development taking place across the Revival Sports programme.

In the Under-19 Mixed Doubles, Nashith Hamdi and Amna Ali Ibrahim secured a 15-12, 15-11 victory over Shujuaan Ashraf and Aminath Nawra Sharwath.

Revival enjoyed one of its strongest runs in the Under-13 Girls’ Singles, with Alaya Nadeem defeating Sienna Mohamed Saeed 15-8, 15-3 to progress to the quarter-finals. Marsha also advanced after her opponent withdrew, while Haajar Hanis Moosa defeated Luyuna Wasiu 15-13, 15-6. Under-13 Girls’ Doubles was another standout category for Revival. Alaya Nadeem and Marsha defeated their opponents 15-3, 15-6, while Haajar Hanis Moosa and Sienna Kyla won 15-5, 15-11. Noorain Zuhan and Luyuna Wasiu also secured a convincing 15-4, 15-8 victory. As a result, three Revival combinations progressed to the semi-final stage.

In the Under-15 Boys’ Singles, Yuan Arafath Saeed, the third seed, defeated Zakariyya Rimzan 15-11, 18-16, while Akil Masuood, the second seed, defeated Najil Ismaeel Shafeeq 15-7, 15-4.

In the Under-15 Girls’ Singles, Nyam Saaidh, the top seed, defeated Naaya Nasrath Mohamed 15-12, 15-9, while Romana Abdul Kader, the second seed, recorded a dominant 15-2, 15-5 victory over Raniya Binth Rahmathullah.

The Under-15 Mixed Doubles also saw Akil Masuood and Laisa Shazwan Ahmed defeat Layan Saeed and Aishath Shaayaa Rasheed 15-12, 15-10. Yuan and Nyam progressed after defeating Hussain Rasheed and Romana Abdul Kader 15-7, 15-9.

In the Under-19 Boys’ Singles, Nashith Hamdi produced a comeback victory, defeating Ahmed Ahnaf Mohamed Aflah 12-15, 15-13, 15-8 to progress.

Nashith partnered with Yoonus Kaif Mohamed in the Under-19 Boys’ Doubles, where the pair defeated Ilan Bin Rilwan and Zeek Zuhan 15-12, 15-10, Nashith also remains in contention in Mixed Doubles, partnering Amna Ali Ibrahim in the Under-19 event.

The opening day saw Revival Sports athletes advance across the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 categories, with multiple players and combinations already reaching quarter-final and semi-final stages.

The focus now shifts towards converting those strong performances into semi-final and final appearances, and ultimately podium finishes.
