Zayan and Naba Crowned Singles Champions as Revival Sports Dominates BAM Championship Finals
Revival Sports delivered a dominant performance at the Badminton Association of Maldives Championship 2026, winning four gold medals while also collecting four silver and three bronze medals in the open-category events.
The club’s high-performance athletes featured in all five finals of the championship, highlighting Revival Sports’ growing dominance in Maldivian badminton.
Leading the success were Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba), who secured the Open Men’s Singles and Open Women’s Singles titles respectively.
In the men’s singles final, top seed Zayan Zaki defeated second seed Nibal Ahmed in a thrilling three-set contest. Zayan claimed the opening set 15-11 before Nibal fought back strongly to win the second set 15-9 despite suffering a leg cramp during the match.
The deciding set produced some of the best rallies of the tournament, with Zayan eventually edging the contest 17-15 to lift the championship title.
The women’s singles final saw Naba continue her impressive run with a straight-sets victory over teammate and sister Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby). Naba won the match 15-7, 18-16, with the second set proving highly competitive before she sealed the victory at crucial moments.
Revival Sports also secured the Open Mixed Doubles title after Nibal and Naby defeated Zayan Zaki and Naba in a dramatic three-set final. This was the first final played in the final day of the competition.
Zayan and Naba won the opening set 15-12, but Nibal and Naby responded strongly to take the next two sets 15-12, 15-11 and secure the championship. The defeat marked the first time in eight years that Zayan and Naba had lost a national mixed doubles final.
Naba and Naby, however, won in dominant fashion in the Open Women’s Doubles final, defeating Aminath Naseema and Busaina Ahmed Riza 15-2, 15-7 to add another gold medal for Revival Sports.
